“For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.”
Proverbs 24:16
There is a Japanese proverb that is similar to this passage: Nana korobi, ya oki. It means, “Fall down seven times, get up eight.” God does not promise that we will be spared the challenges of life. We may experience hard things—repeatedly. But when we fall, God assures us that He will help us up.
In the end, we will be standing through His grace.
Which one is older? Or who said it first?
The Bible!
Such an encouraging verse and thought.
Goes great with Psalm 37:23–24
The steps of a man are established by the Lord, when he delights in his way; 24 though he fall, he shall not be cast headlong, for the Lord upholds his hand.
