Be very careful, then, how you live—not as unwise but as wise, making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.
Ephesians 5:15–16 (NIV)
A relatively unknown man named Heartsill Wilson wrote these words:
A New Day
“This is the beginning of a new day.
God has given me this day to use as I will.
I can waste it or use it for good.
What I do today is very important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it.
When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving something in its place I have traded for it.
I want it to be a gain, not a loss—good not evil.
Success, not failure, in order that I shall not regret the price I paid for it.”
On this new day I will try to do as Paul said to the Ephesians—and as Heartsill Wilson agreed—to be careful how I live, and make the most of every opportunity.
This is so important in these COVID-19 times. It’s very easy to waste a day, but these commuter verses help me to stay focused on what really matters. Thanks!
Good one, Phil. Thanks. 🙂
I was thinking I would wait to thank you for the reminder, then thought better of it 🙂 .
