Cast your burden upon the LORD and he will sustain you.
Psalm 55:22
So the sisters [Mary and Martha] sent word to Jesus, “Master, the one you love so very much is sick.”
What can we learn?
Tell him the burden. Just the burden.
You don’t have to figure out or request a specific solution. He will likely sustain you in a way that you cannot foresee or predict, so there’s no need to spend time figuring out how he can help.
Simply tell him what’s happening and then keep your eyes and your heart open, waiting to see how he’ll sustain you. And be willing to attribute the eventual solution to him.
This is such a great message and so timely with all that is going on in our world. Thank you!
Thanks, Corina. This is great advice and something that will definitely help me navigate my way through tough times.
Side note . . . my friend Phil likes to find interesting ways to remember Bible passages and I thought of a good one here. The 5s and 2s in Psalm 55:22 make excellent hangers and hooks for our burdens!
Steve, Thank you for the helpful way to remember Psalm 55:22 and Christ taking all our burdens :)! Phil
