I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.Psalm 32:8 (NKJV)
This verse reminds me of the country song by Carrie Underwood. In the song a young lady is returning home on Christmas Eve. It is snowing, her baby is in the backseat and she is contemplating how bad her life is going and how she has lost her faith. She hits black ice and her car spins out. She throws her hands up and says:
Jesus, take the wheel. Take it from my hands 'Cause I can't do this on my own. I'm letting go. So give me one more chance And save me from this road I'm on. Jesus, take the wheel.
Sometimes we try to live our lives on our own terms and push Jesus away just as the young lady did. Psalm 32:8 says God will teach us the way we should go—and he will guide us with His eye.
When things are not going well in my life, this verse (and this song) comes to mind and I think . . .
“Jesus, take the wheel, I can’t do this on my own.”
Letting the Lord guide our lives gives us a feeling of contentment and increases our faith.
