“From the end of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint. Lead me to the rock that is higher than I”
Psalm 61:2
When I am led higher, when my vantage point enables me to catch a glimpse of the spiritual behind and within the natural, my heart returns to that peace that surpasses understanding.
I can’t find this perspective on my own. Try as I might. I end up running circles in my brain, remaining on the plains, or worse yet, stuck in a pit whose depth varies according to the troubles of the day.
I have noticed, though, that as soon as I ask—all I have to do is ask—I am led to the higher rock, sometimes though a verse, other times through a conversation, or perhaps through the opening of my closed heart.
Today I will practice asking.
