But Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest and asked him for letters to the synagogues at Damascus, so that if he found any belonging to the Way, men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. Now as he went on his way, he approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven shone around him. And falling to the ground he heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?”
Acts 9:1–4
Not long after Jesus ascended to heaven, Saul of Tarsus led a vicious persecution of the early Christian community. Yet God had a plan that something wonderful would happen to Saul. The Lord appeared to him, and he was converted to Christianity. He helped to spread the Gospel message to the Roman world, and he was willing to suffer to help his fellow believers.
What did the early Christians pray for when Saul of Tarsus was persecuting them? Did they pray that something wonderful would happen to him?
Today I will pray that something wonderful will happen to those who bring challenge into my life.
