I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes.
Romans 1:16
Ask yourself this question: do people know I am a Christian? Of course, those who go to church with you probably know the answer, but what about your workmates, your neighbors, your friends on Facebook? Would you be embarrassed if someone glanced over and saw what you are reading right now? Does the thought of saying out loud, “I believe in God. I am a follower of Christ,” fill you with terror?
I understand. It can be scary to open up and admit this, especially in a time when mocking others seems like a national sport, especially online. What if they say I’m crazy to believe in the Bible? What if they make fun of me? What if they laugh? What if they unfriend me?
Am I too ashamed of the gospel to tell others about my faith?
If we focus on Paul’s words from Romans 1:16, and consider that the gospel is “good news” (something we all need right now), we may be able to overcome the fear. By telling other people that we have found this great gift, we are bringing them the possibility for:
- Peace in a troubled world,
- Joy even in dark times,
- Consuelo when they are sad,
- Healing when there is no cure, and even for
- Eternal life in the future.
Try it today—tell one person that you are a believer. Trust that God will give you the words to say, for it is His good news about salvation that you are sharing.
Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the LORD your God will be with you wherever you go.

My own brother told me just a few years back that I was crazy to believe the Bible but I just accepted that this was coming from someone who had never read the Bible, had no interest in it and did not want to hear. God has given humans free will to Crucify Jesus anew or Crown Him. Sad but true. We need to be so grateful we have chosen to Crown Him, and enjoy the points you have made…Peace, Joy, Comfort, Healing, and Eternal Life. Thanks Becky.
